INTRODUCING A NEW TIRE METALLIC THREAD
The answer is quite simple--a polyester fiber core engineeered inside the TIRE metallic threads.
All metallic threads will shed easily, especially when those metallics are threaded through the eye of a needle that constantly causes rubing against the metal eye.
The TIRE metallics are engineered with thin polyester stands, in the center of the the metallic tube, enabling the metallic fibers to better with stand the abrasive rubbing.
When handsewing with the metallics it is necessary to sew with short lengths of the metallics and move the eye occationally. Even if the metallic is become shedded, the polyester inner core will still remain in place.
When utilizing the metallic thread on the sewing machine for any length of time, I find that the metallics can actually cause tiny burrs on the eye with the constant motion of the metallics through the needle eye. Therefore, I find it adviseable to change the sewing machine needle oftern, when using the the metallics for long periods of time.
The manufacturer of the TIRE threads have given two provided different sizes of the Gold or Silver metallics threads.
Size 1 (50 weight) gives a more delicate metallic embellishment to any project. I like to think it is a tiny fiber, much as a spider web. Size 3 (30 weight), of course, is the thicker of the metallics and performs equallity as well as the smaller size.
