The Silk Experience Class at Huston Texas Quilt Festiva
This is our famous 'Silk Room' at the Houston festival.
We like to call this ''our home away from home'.

JUST What is 'The Silk Experience' ????

It is a consortium of creative designers, teachers and authors interested in furthering the usage of silk. These fiber artists are eager to explore new processes and to produce and/or introduce products that are necessary to achieve the their discovered processes. Most of all, this group of talented artists wish to share their experiences with other fiber enthusiasts. Thus the title 'Silk Experience'.

In conjunction with the silk classes, we also network with the various silk related businesses that wish to promote the increasing use of the silk and the materials, tools and supplies that are needed for specific silk techniques and processes.

Extending The Silk Experience

In order to introduce the many unique silk processes develped by our teachers and desugners, the Silk Experience has deveoloped series of CD Rom's, highlighting the versitle potential of silk. The seven CD topics include dyeing basics, a number of surface design techniques and silk sewing procedures.

The Silk Experience has also extended its influence by sending teachers to Japan to introduce new silk techniques to the Japanese and a recent Silk Study Tour to Japan extended our silk knowledge and presented hands-on experences with sericulture, cocoon versatiltiy, silk reeling production and the experiencing recent silk devlopments in Japan.

For three year several Japanese teachers have acceepted our invitations to join our Silk Experience group at the internationally known Houston Quilt Festival, offering innovative silk processes to the silk enthusiasts in this country. The Silk Experience concept promises exciting potential for the future.
