What are the working advantages of silk ribbon?The silk ribbons and silk bias are available in one color, natural. Color is easily added with the instant set Colorhue dye.The Silk Embroidery Ribbons are a light weight silk, designed primarily to be used as passing ribbon/thread for surface embroidery. The weave is a plain weave, similar to China Silk. Although the embroidery ribbons are thinly woven, the ribbons have a sturdy beaded edge. They are excellent for delicate embroidery and embellishment for heirloom sewing, baby clothes, dolls and miniatures, couture sewing ornamentation, and crazy quilting emblellishnment. Beaders have known the advantages of knotting pearls with silk thread. Now there are new, exciting discoveries of knotting, stringing and bead weaving with the smaller sizes of the Silk Embroidery Ribbons. The Double Sided Silk Ribbons, are once again available after being unattainable for over 50 years. They are much heavier than the Silk Embroidery Ribbons but are ideal for sewing ornamentation, hat decoration, home decoration embellishment, doll making, etc. They 'color' beautifully and can cleverly be dyed different colors on each side. Both types of the silk ribbons come in a variety of options. Shorter 5 meters lengths are available for experimentation. Remember silk fibers are longest lasting of all the natural fibers. That means the silk ribbon (depending upon the initial use) can be recycled and used again. The silk ribbons and the TIRE silk threads can be dyed beautiful hues in just a few minutes with the COLORHUE dyes. Recycle previously dyed silk or rayon ribbons with the 'Colorhue', it is magic color layering. What a treat to be able to coordinate and blend colors for the silk ribbon and silk thread. Or imagine being able to touch up RIBBON EMBROIDERY after it has been completed for special blending effect. Although the larger spool of the silk ribbon seem expensive, the single meter prices are surprisingly low. When purchasing in larger rolls, the silk ribbon is a real bargain. When coloring ribbons yourself, single spools of ribbons are only needed and a ribbon supply is readily at hand.
